A recent proposal at the Biden-Obama transition team's online portal, change.gov, suggests the incoming administration take a further look at space-based solar power (SBSP) as a potentially viable electricity source. The movement is being spearheaded by the National Space Society, who argues we have the ability to scale up SBSP with current technology, but that the research and funding for such projects has 'fallen through the cracks" for years.
