Julia "Butterfly" Hill

Environmentalist and activist Julia "Butterfly" Hill is best known for her 738-day tree sit in the late 90's. Hill, along with support from the EarthFirst! group, successfully saved a 1500-year old California Redwood tree from being cut down by loggers from the Pacific Lumber Company. She saved that tree, named Luna, along with three surrounding acres from being clear cut. Hill now travels the world speaking and teaching folks about community organizing and activism as part of her work with Circle of Life and the Engage Network.
