Should Earth Day Be a National Holiday?
I am calling for Congress to pass a law recognizing the third Monday in April as Earth Day — a holiday where Americans from all walks of life, no matter their religious and political preference, gather to celebrate the one component of our address each and every global citizen shares in common: Earth.

No matter who they have screened the movie for, the makers of the documentary film, Dirt! The Movie, the take-home message has been that dirt is important–as if you couldn’t tell that by the title.
EPA: U.S. CO2 Emissions Actually Fell 2.9% Between 2007-2008
The United States saw a drop in overall greenhouse gas emissions of 2.9 percent from 2007 to 2008, according to the 2010 U.S. Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report. Despite the decline, 2008 emissions were still 13.5 percent higher than they were in 1990.
