Use the hashtag #ecosotu for environmental tweets during President Obama's 2011 State of the Union address
I'm still riding a little Twitter wave after co-hosting the Masdar Digital Dialogue along with the multi-faceted energy company in Abu Dhabi last Wednesday night — and that's a good thing because I plan on riding that Twitter wave right on into Tuesday night's State of the Union and diving into the #ecosotu Twitter chat, a concept we quickly hashed out and hosted for the 2010 State of the Union. (See ecopolitology on facebook for screenshots of our favorite #ecosotu tweets of 2010).
Like we did for the Masdar tweetup, we'll embed a real-time stream of the chat for people to easily post and participate directly in the focused #ecosotu chat (see below). Or you can follow along on twitter or your favorite desktop client, you know the drill. Technology willing, I'll embed the White House interactive video in this post too.
Although there was no mention of climate and energy in President Obama's preview of the 2011 State of the Union, don't expect energy to be entirely absent from the address, especially considering energy was one of the areas where President Obama mentioned there was common ground with the Republicans after the election day shellacking in November 2010.
Other Twitter-related State of the Union happenings:
Immediately after the address, senior White House officials will be answering questions on Twitter. To participate, reply to @whitehouse using the hashtag #sotu. Also, follow @PressSec on Twitter to and wait for the cue to submit questions to Press Secretary Robert Gibbs using the hashtag #1Q and watch for his video responses on January 26th.
