Citing "the coldest winter ever recorded," Trump wants Gore to lose prize
As climate scientists, meteorologists and even fake news pundits take to the internet, airwaves and print media to explain the difference between weather and climate, there's a seemingly endless barrage of amateur weather pundits like Donald Trump declaring an end to global warming.
Citing the winter weather and above-average snowfalls in the mid-Atlantic and northeast over the last few weeks, Donald Trump told a roomful of members at his New York country club that the Nobel Prize Committee should take back the Nobel Prize Al Gore won for his work bringing attention to global warming.
According to the New York Post, Trump said to the 500 members of the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester:
"With the coldest winter ever recorded, with snow setting record levels up and down the coast, the Nobel committee should take the Nobel Prize back from Al Gore."
Trump went on, making the leap from amateur meteorology to geopolitical economics:
"Gore wants us to clean up our factories and plants in order to protect us from global warming, when China and other countries couldn't care less. It would make us totally noncompetitive in the manufacturing world, and China, Japan and India are laughing at America's stupidity."
The crowd of 500 then reportedly stood up and cheered.
