I would like to point out that the so called “Big Oil” companies are not as opposed to alternative energy as you make them out to be. Many of the Big Oil companies are in the lead with research and development into alternative energies. Look at BP for example they have a very large alternative energy program, my house runs on their solar panels. They have their hands in alternative energy, and their money helps fund advancements in the field. BP has some of the most efficient panels in production (which is about 12%, the average for solar panels is just above 11%). Other oil companies are seeing the amazing profits to be had in this field and joining in. I would not be surprised if the oil companies are the leaders in alternative energy in the next 10 years.
